Clearcutting has opened up vistas in Alberta’s Swan Hills that have never been seen before. Why does it feel opportunistic to photograph them?

    That’s how I felt when trees were cleared in one section of our subdivision to make way for new homes. Suddenly, the ocean was visible where it had never been before. The view is beautiful but always bittersweet.

      Oh, Amy Lynn, that’s just the same scenario. I’m thrilled to be able to see the lay of the land, something that was never possible before except by air, but it makes me so sad that I can. Such conflicting feelings.
